When Roly rang on Saturday night to tell me that your dad had died, I could hardly believe it. What a big gap it will leave in you and your families lives Alison, but what a great heritage he has left behind.  We all send our love and condolences to you all.

I will always remember George, with great fondness, and my lasting picture of him, looking ever so sprightly and happy was at the family reunion. Your dad also reminded me so much of my dad, with his gentle, patient, kind and loving nature.

At times like this, I am reminded of Aunt Janet, who, if a family member died, would say. ‘That’s another plate of porridge to be made in heaven.’ But then, George might not have liked porridge!
